Client: The Mix, a global market research agency (partner-owned, 30-ish people on staff).
The problem: Ten years in, with a New York office opening and a large London office on the way, The Mix needed a more mature voice. They needed to articulate their ambition, move on from the outsider status, and show the reach of client work that was mostly embargoed.
What I did: Leadership interviews, workshops and research, leading to a brand story and website copy, plus UX consulting and team bios.
Result: Their Creative Director turned the brand story into a showreel (voiced by a staff member, not a professional). The Mix has also applied the language to its creds and decks, and I updated how they present their case studies.
“The result has been copy we are in love with.” Tash Walker, CEO and Founder, The Mix
In their ten years of business, The Mix has grown to a partner-owned business of 30. With global clients, beautiful premises in Bermondsey and the first New York office opening, the Mix needed to blend their talent, results and unusual point of view.
How could copy embody their new maturity, leave arguments behind and step into a leading their industry - but not fade into the middle?
Intimacies, emotions, and hard-won truths
I drafted a story to present to the board. One that speaks to the ambition and hopes of their customers, that captured the voices of the board, the team and their customers.
A nuanced, tonal story that delivered texture, friction and the voices of the people who share their stories that drive the insights of The Mix.
Tash found it so powerful that she commissioned a showreel that brings their business to life and connects with customers.
The Mix booked me for copy, but the story and voice I captured was rolled out over all internal and client-facing docs, representing their mission to a global audience. The voice was created in 2021, and is still providing the basis for their work at time of updating this case study (2026).
After wrapping this project, The Mix commissioned me to update their case studies and teach tone of voice to their growing staff, so everyone is making full and ongoing use of this informal yet power brand voice.

This page is an abbreviated version. This full PDF has the rest: what the project covered, how I work - alone and closely with stategists. It covers how I found The Mix's voice, interviews, and results. You'll need a couple of minutes to take your time and understand the project, methods, and outcomes.
"Ann’s approach was both reassuring and really exciting. Handing over your thoughts to someone else isn’t easy, but she had a terrific manner, she really listened and sought out knowledge about us so she understood completely what we were after.
It didn’t feel like just another job working with Ann, she pushed us as much as we pushed her to deliver creative excellence and she never made it feel like anything other than important and meaningful.
The work she produced absolutely understood our brief. The result has been copy we are in love with.
The first time we listened to her take on us, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end."
